It takes place on the first Tuesday of each month at 1.10pm in the Galway City Library, the Lunchtime @ The Library is a popular and long-standing event which caters for all tastes and interest levels in classical music from the novice to the professional. Each month will feature The Galway Ensemble in Residence, ConTempo Quartet string quartets from their repertoire. All performances are preceded with a brief introduction of the music.

Clifden Traditional Music Festival

Fleadh na gCuach Festival

Fleadh na gCuach (The Cuckoo Festival) is taking place every year in the scenic fishing village of Kinvara, Co. Galway on the May Bank Holiday Weekend. Connemara Mussel Festival

A celebration of Killary Mussels harvested from “One of the Forty Places to See Before you Die” is taking place on the beautiful Renvyle Peninsula in North Connemara. This is the festivals nineth year and promises that more mussels will be eaten here this weekend than in any other part of the country. Last year, over a ton of mussels were devoured and organisers are set to harvest three tonnes of Killary Mussels for this year's celebrations, which include music, fun, mussel cooking competitions, children's treasure hunts and set dancing, to name a few.

Connemara Cycle 4 Light Festival

May 2016 
This is thesecond year of the ‘Connemara Cycle 4 Light Festival’, a partnership between Delphi Adventure Resort and Aware. The Festival will consist of a variety of cycling events for all ages and abilities in support of Aware. 

The main event of the Festival will be Aware’s annual Connemara Cycle. There are two cycle routes to choose from: a 65 kilometre route and a 125 kilometre route, both of which start and finish in Delphi and take in the spectacularly beautiful surrounds of Connemara, Co. Galway. Cyclists of all abilities are invited to take part and all funds raised will go towards Aware’s information, education and support services.

Cliffs of Moher Seabirds Festival

During the month of May one of Ireland’s most amazing natural wonders is the host of seabirds found nesting at the Cliffs of Moher. Over 60,000 seabirds can be seen at the Cliffs of Moher during the breeding season including Puffins, Guillemots, Razorbills, Kittiwakes and Fulmars nesting at different levels of the cliffs. The Cliffs are a Special Protected Area for seabirds and are also home to other bird species such as Peregrine Falcons, Choughs and Ravens. There is nowhere else on the mainland of Ireland where you can so easily see such a host of nesting seabirds from accessible viewing points on the cliffs of or from the boat of the Cliffs of Moher cruises from Doolin. The Cliffs of Moher Seabirds festival is a family friendly series of activities and events celebrating the presence of our feathered friends.

The CAFE Arts Festival

Galway’s newest arts festival, the CAFE (Carrabane Arts for Everyone) Festival will take place on the June Bank Holiday weekend in the village of Carrabane, five minutes from Loughrea. Venture Cup Powerboat Race

June 2016 
The Venture Cup is the longest, toughest and most prestigious powerboat race in the world and in June 2016 Galway will be the only port out of six around Ireland where the stunning powerboats will compete in inport racing. Using the Aran Islands as a chicane along the route, the races whih are held over four days will involve vessels that have broken speed records of 244mph and will be visible from the Promenade in Salthill.

The Galway Sessions

The Galway Sessions Festival returns celebrating Irish folk and traditional music and the music Irish emigrants brought with them across the world. As in previous years, the festival’s Scottish connection will be retained with an array of performers travelling from Galway’s cultural partner Stirling to take part. Connemara Green Festival

The Connemara Green Festival is a relatively new festival in Letterfrack which aims to raise awareness of this ecology and help raise funds for biodiversity actions. The festival includes an ecology walk linking the national park to the seashore, pond dipping, a talk on the history of Letterfrack & a Leave No Trace workshop. There will also be Kayaking & Stand Up paddle boarding available throughout the Saturday and a number of associated events on the Sunday.

Roundstone Bay 8K

The 6th annual Roundstone Bay 8K takes near the village of Roundstone in the heart of Connemara. The course itself consists of a figure of eight loop, beginning and ending in Roundstone village, and taking in some spectacular coastal views along the way. Both runners and walkers are welcome and the organisers have endured to put on an event that will cater to all types of participant. Proceeds from the race will go towards the local RNLI Lifeboat service, a hugely worthwhile charity that relies entirely on donations and fundraising to ensure its viability.

Galway Bay Weekend Cruise

Boats of all sorts from all around Galway Bay head out from their numerous home ports to assemble at Kilronan in the Aran Islands. This unique annual event will in turn usher in the WIORA (West of Ireland Offshore Racing Association) Annual Racing Festival, which will takes place under the Galway Bay Sailing Club burgee from Wednesday July 22nd to Saturday July 25th, but will be staged at Galway Harbour rather than at GBSC's home anchorage across the bay at Rinville.

Galway Races Summer Festival

Ireland's biggest and most famous horse racing festival is held in Galway during the last week of July every year and involves seven days of breath taking action. The 2016 festival will run from 25th July until 31st July. Connemara Pony Festival

Premier show for Connemara Ponies in Ireland for breeders and owners from home and overseas. The annual Connemara Pony Festival & Show in Clifden, Co Galway attracts visitors from all over the world. The highlight of the festival is on Thursday and Friday, when the biggest showcase of Connemara Ponies in the world takes place. Ponies compete in in-hand classes, ridden classes, working hunter classes, and a puissance (or high jump) competition.
