Volvo Ocean Race Galway
The Volvo Ocean Race is an exceptional test of sailing prowess and human endeavour which has been built on the spirit of great seafarers - fearless men who sailed the world’s oceans aboard square rigged clipper ships more than a century ago.
The Volvo Ocean Race organisers have in light of Galway being chosen as a racing port in the 28/09 race decided to appoint Galway City as the finishing port of the 11/12 race. This is a massive achievement for Galway City and rewards the fantastic efforts made by the people of Galway in 2009. Now together we rise to the challenge to not only top the 2009 spectacle but to ensure Galway City will be the best and most memorable host city to the Volvo Ocean Race.
With the Race Village just around the corner from our Galway City Centre Hotel guests of Eyre Square Hotel will be immersed in the festivites, racing atmosphere and craic that will undoubtedly possess Galway City in July 2012.
