Tips for Driving in Galway
Galway city centre can be busy, particularly during peak times, weekends, and events like the Galway Races or Galway International Arts Festival. Here are a few tips:
Arrive early if possible. Car parks fill up quickly during busy periods, especially in summer and during major events. Arriving before midday gives you the best chance of finding a space at Q-Park.
Consider public transport. Galway is well-served by bus services. If you are arriving by train or bus, Galway’s Ceannt Station is just a one-minute walk from the hotel — making us one of the most accessible hotels in the city.
Explore on foot. Once you have parked, you can comfortably walk to all of Galway’s main attractions, restaurants, and shops from the hotel. The Latin Quarter, Shop Street, Spanish Arch, and Salthill Promenade are all within easy reach.
Getting Here Without a Car
Many of our guests arrive without a car and find it the most convenient way to visit Galway:
By train: Irish Rail services run from Dublin Heuston to Galway Ceannt Station (2.5 hours). The station is a one-minute walk from our front door.
By bus: Citylink, GoBus, and Bus Éireann all operate frequent services to Galway from Dublin, Shannon Airport, Cork, and other cities. All services arrive at Ceannt Station.
By air: Shannon Airport (SNN) is the nearest airport, approximately 90 minutes by bus. Dublin Airport (DUB) has direct coach connections (approximately 3 hours). Ireland West Airport Knock (NOC) is 1.5 hours by car.
